THE IDEA

Mainland Tour is not a label but was always meant as a description of what it is: a tour on Mainland, and/or continents/private estates directly connected to Mainland, such as Bellisseria, or Blake Sea. One of my main goals was and always is to collaborate and network with people who share the same interest in attempt to support the whole of the SL community.

Originally, I started the Mainland Tour project because I heard it so often that quite an amount of people still see Mainland as the ugly, abandoned and anarchic part of Second Life. While these parts are indeed existing, there is also a special spirit to be found within Mainland residents, and many inspiring projects had/have their roots in this part of SL. I met many who put a high value into amazing landscaping, good connections to their neighbours, and close collaborations to enhance their virtual experience for everyone.

Since I love exploring a lot, I had the idea to show these kind of gems that I found to other residents; in attempt to motivate them (re-)discovering the continents, to tell them about the communities that I got to know, and maybe in the long run, to help them making connections or even forming new friendships.

As of January 2022, I joined forces with the Bellisserian Embassy Sansara, part of the Bellisserian Bureau of Bureaucracy (BBB) project that is known for the Bellisserian passports that allow collecting stamps from various locations which can be explored all over the grid. The goals of the BBB Embassy Sansara match my own for the Mainland Tour project perfectly since their aim is to support Bellisserians and Mainlanders alike so they can get to know each other better, explore and learn more about their continents, network within and beyond their communities and groups of interests, find new friends and spend a lovely time together, and all of that through the common interest of exploring and tours around Mainland as well as Bellisseria, and, of course, collecting some stamps.

SUPPORTERS

The Mainland Tour project is non-profit and free for all.

Many projects like mine only exist thanks to the generosity of others.

Those people who give so selflessly, deserve a special mention. Thank you, guys! ♥

(in no particular order)

I have been asked by a few project/location owners as well as tour participants in what way I was being supported by the listed people and communities. I understand that transparency is needed to avoid misunderstandings about the support I receive(d). All kind of support always was and is at no cost for my project, and there are no hidden payments involved.

  • BBB/CSC/Blisston Village: They are all my friends, some of them for years already by now, and we share the same interests in exploring, travelling, arts, culture, hangouts and so on. We enjoy to support each others projects and events because we also enjoy what we have to offer to and for the benefit of the whole of the SL community. They allow me to promote the tours at their venues, and support me as well by regularly spreading the word about my upcoming tours.

  • Juanse & Luke from [KuddelMuddel] are not only my store partners but close friends of about 3 years now. Before we collaborated for a business, we had other projects running already, and have a long tradition of supporting each other. While the list would be way too long in what kind of ways they are helping me backstage daily, the visible supports are Juanse's lanyard which I can update for each tour with a new design so that each tour participant can have a nice souvenir, and Luke's contribution of the very first and official Mainland Tour vehicle; an offroad jeep that was successfully introduced during the tour at the Snowlands where we had to master steep roads.
